  • Zimbabwe’s Interesting Cultures and Art Works

    Every country has its own traditions and cultures; these are unique and special. It’s the culture of the country that reflects it specialty and uniqueness. African traditions and acculturations are known for their unique characteristics; every part of the continent has an interesting story to tell.

     Zimbabwe is a landlocked country located in southern Africa and is characterized with beautiful landscapes and attractions. It’s not a famous tourist destination; however, it still tends to impress the visitors by its magnificent Victoria Falls. These falls are one of the seven natural wonders on earth and the main reason tourists from all over the world book their flights to Zimbabwe. The country’s cultures and traditions are worth telling; there’s so much going on and knowing about it is a very interesting thing to do. Zimbabweans (natives) are known for their friendly nature; the locals of the country are warm-welcoming and passionate.

    Zimbabwe is highly famous for its art culture and festivals which are held ancestrally. This important African country is known for its traditional cuisines and artifacts and is a popular place amongst historians. Zimbabwe has been specializing in creating traditional arts such as pottery, basketry, textiles, jewelry, and carving for years. Zimbabweans traditional art is very unique; people in Zimbabwe make impressive patterned woven baskets; their stools which are carved out of a single wood piece are quite famous as well. The country’s famous “Shona Sculpture” has been all time famous. The sculpture and its style are highly notable – Shona sculpture emerged in 1940s and is considered as a legendary art work.

     Inspirations and Art Styles:

    Most of the African art work is made by wood, stone and carving and their traditionally ways of painting are worth telling. The elements or the inspirations which they get to present their arts come from the nature. Most of the Zimbabwean sculptures, art works and carvings are the figures of bird and other wild animals; some of these are of human beings as well. Zimbabwean art has an indigenous feel and that’s what keeps it unique. Most of the best Zimbabwean art works have been preserved in the national museums of the country.

     Folk Traditions:

    Zimbabwe’s folk traditions have their own place in the world and are comprised of dance and pottery. Zimbabwe long has been a home to many talented musicians which include Thomas Mapfumo, Oliver Mutukudzi, the Bhundu Boys and Audius Mtawarira.

     Visiting Zimbabwe:

    All the grand festivals and events which take place in the country are worth attending; these best reflect the vibrancy of the country. Zimbabweans are extremely friendly and as their official language is English; it won’t be hard for you to interact with them. The country can be explored easily as the public transportation is quite adequate. Zimbabwe caters tourists of all interests; whether you’re an adventure lover, and an art fonder, it’s a must that you visit the country.
